Mimi was raised in White Settlement and is an alumnus of Brewer High School. She cares deeply for the White Settlement community and especially for the children of White Settlement ISD. Mimi came back and raised all four of her children from White Settlement ISD. Of them, 3 were Valedictorians and 1 was salutatorian like his mom! )
In particular, she cares deeply for Brewer High school. For example, Mimi gives out five yearly scholarships for Brewer High School’s graduation: the Frank Molinar Scholarship, the Kenny Williams Scholarship, the Mary Chandler Scholarship, the Kelly Wynne Scholarship, and the Cannard Scholarship. The district names these scholorships after WSISD educators who also graduated from Brewer High School and returned to the district to give back.
Due to her contributions, Mimi has been recognized by White Settlement ISD and the White Settlement ISD Education Foundation.

Texas Tech Law School Foundation Board
“I remember when tax Professor Cummins called me and offered me a scholarship to attend Texas Tech Law School. I had never gone to Lubbock and committed site unseen. Because of the generosity of Texas Tech, I am the lawyer that I am today. It is very important for me to give back.” As a form of giving back, Mimi serves as a member of the Texas Tech Law School Foundation.
In giving back, Mimi created the Coffey Diversity Endowed Scholarship, which awards minority students a partial scholarship to attend Texas Tech School of Law every year.
She is also one of the donors to the Professor Rob Sherwin Professorship. Rob Sherwin is a Professor and the Director of Advocacy Programs at Texas Tech School of Law. As the Director of Advocacy Programs, Rob leads and coaches the mock trial and moot court teams in state-wide and national competitions. In 2020, Texas Tech is the #1 ranked law school for American Bar Association competitions. They consistently turn out champions.
Mimi also sponsors the annual Dean Darby Dickerson Writing Award, an award granted to a law student for excellence in legal writing.
Mimi is also proud to support and donate to the Forgiven Felons Program. The Forgiven Felons is a nonprofit group that assists recently released felons with issues such as housing, jobs, training and transportation. For example, see below one of the cars raffled off to a forgiven felon in need of transportation.
Mimi is a caring DWI Lawyer involved with the Cenikor Foundation, which is a non-profit substance abuse rehab foundation that taxpayers do not pay for. For example, Mimi serves on the advisory board that comes up with fundraising ideas and projects tooffset the costs of running Cenikor. Cenikor is a non-profit organization that provides rehabilitation for those in need at virtually no cost. One of Cenikor’s main fundraising activities is the skeet shoot.
For many years, Mimi has volunteered to be a judge for the Dallas Bar Association’s High School Mock Trial Competition. She enjoys being able to apply her extensive trial advocacy knowledge to help the young competitors, some of whom may one day join the legal profession. She always appreciates the competitor’s willingness to learn and to improve their advocacy skills.
